Investment Case: The Inner Mindset is Your Greatest Asset - the Gift that Keeps Giving.
Think of this life principle:
Between every situation and your response to that situation is a space (containing your mindset).
Within the space (mindset) lies your unique choice of response.
Your choice of response, in any situation, is your greatest freedom, that determines the quality-arc of your life. Learning, improving, and modifying choices are gateways to joyful living – choice of life long partners, where you live and work, your spirituality levels, value-sets and core purpose.
How you respond to the above statements suggests whether you have a growth mindset or fixed mindset. Growth mind-setters respond eagerly, and want to effortfully learn how to maximise their greatest asset, the mind.
Fixed mind-setters: the words do not register! And they flick mindlessly past the insights, again, missing the kaleidoscope of opportunities that lie within and around (whilst their greatest asset morphs into their most paralysing liability). The result: a lifespan long in sadness, hopelessness, frustration, unrealised dreams.... Where do you sit on the mindset spectrum?
Personally, I read, over and over, from 1979, Viktor Frankl's book, Man's Search For Meaning, when I was desperately searching for meaning as a medical science student. Inserting purpose and awareness into my internal space/filter were game-changers.
My responses to varied challenges radically transformed: my attitudes, goal setting, behaviour, emotions and speech. Instead of my sun setting, it began to shine, spotlighting and reframing cognitive distortions, false beliefs, and expanding my degrees of freedom of choice of response to any internal or external situation..
Ever since, about 40,000 hours later, my personal and professional focus is sustaining attention on understanding the "space", the mindset that filters every situation; and how then best to optimise the filter of the mind to achieve audacious goals, to release latent potential, an unfolding, fulfilling life.
What a journey – an amazing life overflowing with meaningful relationships and meaningful work.
And it is now time in my life cycle to share the seeds and fruits of my collective wisdom to those who want to invest in their most important asset and earn long lasting rewards: a beautiful mindset.
